Fabricijo Matjaž

Fabricijo Matjaž comes from the village of Kozarno in the Goriška Brda region. He belongs to the younger generation of winemakers, but is already considered one of the most promising talents in the area.

He has been involved in winemaking since a young age, gaining experience and knowledge under the guidance of several renowned winemakers. Today, this foundation is reflected in his independent work.

He cultivates 3.5 hectares of his own vineyards, located in the far western part of Brda, in the small village of Barbana. The vineyards are planted on terraced slopes, mostly facing southeast. The soil is composed of marl and sandstone (locally known as opoka), characteristic of this terroir. He works the vineyards organically and with great precision, using only indigenous yeasts for fermentation—giving his wines a distinct and authentic character.
