Bjana

Bjana is the dialect name for the village of Biljana. Bjana sparkling wines are produced and tended on a family estate in the heart of the Goriška brda wine-growing region. All are produced using the classic method. The wines are aged in the completely restored Dorišče Manor, one of the oldest cellars in the world.

They leave nature to play the leading role. They try to understand it as well as possible in the vineyard and the cellar, so as to produce the best wine that reflects the characteristics or character of the terrain and the climatic conditions (terroir) and the varieties from which it is produced.

The Brda wine-growing region is characterised by a pre-alpine hilly landscape with a strong mediterranean influence. Three grape varieties are used for the Bjana sparkling wines, namely two champagne grapes (chardonnay and pinot noir) and the autochthonous rebula variety. Chardonnay gives the wine body, aromatics and fullness, pinot noir structure and fruitiness, and rebula elegance and freshness.
