Description

The harvest takes place at the beginning of October. The grapes were macerated in contact with the must throughout fermentation, for up to 14 days. After a light pressing, the wine was subjected to biological decoction and then matured for 18 months in 225 L barriques. After bottling, the wine continues to mature in bottle for at least six months.

It is an intense ruby red colour with purple tints, ripe-fruited flowers reminiscent of mulberries, blackberries and other fruits of the forest. It is characterised by its fullness and fruity character. Pleasant tannins enhance the wine's flavour.

Vinakras develops its viticulture and winemaking in accordance with the natural features of the Karst environment.

This is the homeland of the Slovenian and world speciality wine, teran. The wine is produced from the refosèk variety, which is, among other things, the most common variety in the area.

The growth of the vines in the Karst wine-growing region is significantly influenced by the red soil – terra rossa or jerina – which is rich in minerals and iron. The iron oxides in the soil give it its characteristic red colour.

The karst soil gives terra cotta its characteristic taste and, compared to other wines, it contains a high percentage of lactic acid. Research has shown that it has a positive effect on the human organism. It is recommended for people who are anaemic.
