Description

Only in selected years.

After the harvest of slightly over-ripe grapes, fermentation and maceration for about 14 days, the wine was aged for 24 months in new and used 225l barique barrels.

It has a ruby, slightly brick-coloured colour. The bouquet is intense, like overripe black fruit. There is jam, rum, smoke and tar. On the palate it is ripe, bold, still of higher acidity, fine tannins, a slight vanilla aftertaste.

The farm is located in the village of Zalošče in the heart of the Vipava valley. Excellent locations and well-preserved vineyards are the greatest wealth and foundation for the production of good wines. They stretch on the slope above the Vipava River. The wine-growing tradition of the Saksida family goes back to the past.

Their vineyards lie on the slopes of Lepenik, Gmajna, Lisičnik and Špegla. Varieties which grow in their vineyards are; Chardonnay, Pinot gris, Merlot, Cabernet sauvignon, Ribolla, Pinot noir, Zelen, Barbera, Pinot blanc and Malvasia.
