Description

The fully ripe, already slightly over-ripe grapes were macerated for 21 days after harvesting, dipping the hat in a wooden barrel three times a day. Fermentation was spontaneous with the grapes' own yeasts. This was followed by racking and maturation with fine lees for a further year. Bottled without filtration.

Stronger amber colour, dry on the palate, with balsamic notes and dried herbs, nicely rounded tannins, pleasant acids.

Ščurek

Goriška Brda is a hilly region in the far west of Slovenia. In this landscape there is the family estate Ščurek. The winery is located in the village of Plešivo, which belongs to the village community Medana.

Today, with the help of five sons, Stojan cultivates 24 hectares of vineyards. Most of the property is in the Italian part of the Brda, and the best positions are Grotišče, Dugo, Mahober, Jazbine, Jordana, Gredič and Kozlink.

Ščurek offers around 90,000 bottles of premium wine annually. Wine nicely emphasize the identity of the family and the country on which the vine grows. Ščurek: wine, art, story, family, tradition.
