Description

Grapes macerate for one month. The wine is then ripen for 24 months in 225 liter barrels at constant temperature and humidity.

They use 50 % of Slavonic oak, 47 % of French Allier and 3 % French Troncaise oak.

Red Carolina is a medium -intense pomegranate red. On the nose, the wine is elegant and ripened, with a perceptible scent of cherries and cherry jams.

In the mouth, the wine is dry, juicy, with elegant ripe tannins. The character in the mouth is intense, it is perceived to be detected and exotic spices, as well as chocolate and ripening in the wood.

Very complex wine with long aftertaste and long life.

The Jakončič farm dates back to 1847, when Mihael and Carolina Jakončič planted the first vineyards in the village of Kozana in Goriška Brda, thus laying the foundation for the family winery.

The experience of the elderly guides the impatience of the young, and the farm is very proud that parents and children share the care of the vineyards, winemaking and marketing. Dad Igor and mum Danica’s deep desire to achieve high quality wines has also succeeded in guiding both sons, Aljosa and Mitja, to university education in wine and viticulture.

This was followed by the highest medals and awards from international competitions at home and abroad. Each high award became their soul food. They knew it was the right path. Today, they realise that the journey never ends, each vintage is a new beginning, a new test, a new challenge, and they await each harvest with more trepidation and excitement than the first day of school. This is the charm of their lives.
