Description

The grapes for Rebula Up are from the highest vineyards on clean brick, harvested in early October. It was macerated briefly and less than a third of the grapes were left in a large barrel with the must to ferment and mature for a year. This was followed by racking into 500 litre oak and acacia barrels and bottling after a year.

Honey floral, ripe yellow fruit, a little Mediterranean herbs and a little vanilla at the start, with minerality becoming more and more important as time goes on. On the palate, the wine is warm and dry, the fruitiness, the honeyiness and the herbaceousness are repeated.

Goriška Brda is a hilly region in the far west of Slovenia. In this landscape there is the family estate Ščurek. The winery is located in the village of Plešivo, which belongs to the village community Medana.

Today, with the help of five sons, Stojan cultivates 24 hectares of vineyards. Most of the property is in the Italian part of the Brda, and the best positions are Grotišče, Dugo, Mahober, Jazbine, Jordana, Gredič and Kozlink.
